The so called 'automated darkroom' really is anything but ........... It does not even run to automated print drying........ but hey its more authentic this way.......... Like I have said previously I can't decide whether I am delighted or appalled to be back in the darkroom ....... You know I think I am kinda enjoying it :-)) ........... I find myself dancing along to the radio the way I always did previously ........ Hey, no one can see you in the darkroom :-)) hehehehe......... a friend in photography rang me from NYC while I was in there ...... I told her I was hanging up prints on the line........ She was amazed and jealous "..... You are really hanging them up? Wow I always wanted to do that.........." hehehe........ Fancy being so young you never got to do that ....... hehehehe....... chance would be a fine thing...... :-)) I'm kinda jealous of that :-)) ........ hehehehe..........

It reminds me of my first darkroom that I set up where I lived when I left my folks house for the first time ........ Prints were always hanging all over the bathroom.......... All the time.

And this darkroom here in the big ATL reminds me of the grim makeshift darkrooms in that movie "Underfire" with Nick Nolte as the photojournalist in Nicaragua........... I used to love that movie........... He gets the picture and he gets the girl......... what's not to like? Well there is the slight question of journalistic ethics from time to time........ but hey......... :-))

Yeah my fave on line person AngKan was thanking all her friends (inc me) the other night...... it was a lovely idea..... :-)) ......... So I think I need to take a leaf from her book...... and thank her just for being the star that she is ............ and cos Im in history mode....... I think I also need to thank Steve Gray ....... Way way back in the day when I was a lost student type ...... he let me rent a room in his house and then proceed to take over the whole place ........ turn his whole bathroom and house into photographic base camp ........ It all started there......... with prints hanging from the line in Steve's place all day everyday....... and me first time ever......... staying up all night to print ......... That place was like a cocoon for me ........ I started as a grub........ by the time I moved out of Steve's place I had made myself into a butterfly....... sorry I mean a photographer :-)))))))))

Thanks to all my friends....... anyone reading and commenting here.......... thanks so much for your continuing interest in me and my photography......... and especially everyone who helped and inspired me to make photography my life ........... and just because ...... today I want to thank Angela and Steve especially :-)))))))))) XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Cheers Jez XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

PS....... Just a thought....... I am not down on the automated darkroom (so called in the past)....... I think it is more properly called the 'Photography Center of Atlanta' ......... run by a fantastic guy....... Bill Gillespie ...... who couldn't be more steeped in authentic photography and the history of photography :-))
