I was about to shoot the fireworks in New York then I thought nahhhh....... so I dashed down to DC.... slightly crazy but hey....... I wanted to see the fireworks on the Mall with the Washington Monument....... it was a great crowd very happy and relaxed..... American Independence Day has not always been a day of celebration for Brits ...... but we are certainly made to feel welcome now...... and 231 years later Britain under Gordon Brown is thinking of learning something from the States and finally getting a written constitution. One fantastic little bit of freedom announced today and also certainly worth celebrating was the release of Alan Johnston the BBC journalist kidnapped in Gaza. He was so together in his first sight of sunlight in 16 weeks.... obviously having faced an absolutely disgusting and terrifying ordeal....... hats off to you mate........well done Alan glad to see you back.
