The Winter Solstice is the darkest day.......... with the least amount of daylight in its 24 hours ........ as I was walking back to my folks across the fields at the time full darkness was falling........ there was a tiny amount of light left hinting in the sky........ otherwise it was all full on darkness........ I thought I'll just try and photograph that last tiny hint of light left......... at the very end of any daylight just as the darkness became full on this Winter Solstice......... my father said seeing my cameras out as I returned into the house ....... I didn't realize there was a sunset ? ........ er...... hmmmmm sunset too strong a word for it........ at 3200 ISO at a 20th at f2.8....... you are not really talking sunset........ most people would just call that plain old darkness........ :-))
