I shot this in the middle of the night in Wisconsin. Its amazing to hear the iconic sounds an American train makes as it approaches the crossing.

I had this sitting on my desktop along with other images shot from the car........ Although this one is not typical....... I actually have tons of them ....... I was thinking of pictures shot from cars as Harv sent me a link to this fantastic looking exhibition by Lee Friedlander......... It made me think how much I love shooting from the car myself......... so Im looking forward to seeing........... America by Car ......... it is about to open at the Whitney in NYC.

Thinking about shooting from the car I remembered an amazing picture by Gilles Peress....... when I first saw it I was amazed........... it made me see the potential of cars as positions for shooting from......... both because you can be close and unobserved but also as it gives you a fantastic frame and the sense of immediacy........ I can't find that picture anywhere on line.......... it has a bride standing on the step of her house Perres is shooting from a car in Belfast. (North of Ireland)......... Can you see it on line anywhere?
