This beautiful little girl likes having her photograph made.

The girls mother told me that the little girls father had committed suicide....... just 10 days ago. 'Hung himself right there' she said pointing to the room above the abandoned shop next to us. The room they had all shared. The total tragedy of this completely stunned me. Just shocked me to the core ......... 'Why?' I asked ............. ' Who knows why' she said. And then..... : ' Who knows why anyone does that ................'

Who knows why anyone does that ? ........ So right ........ Unemployment..... Poverty ....... Debt ......... Disappointment....... Inadequacy ....... Rage....... Desperation ...... Fear....... Drugs....... Alcoholism ....... Addiction..... Depression......... Mental illness........ A combination of any or all of this ....... Or none of these reasons ......... who knows.

So sad that being the father of this beautiful child was not reason enough to think again.

Hard enough for her to grow up as a child in downtown Gary. Such a tragedy for her father to be lost in this senseless way.
