According to the Guardian President Obama will bring Cuba in from the cold in the run-up to or at next month's Summit of the Americas in Trinidad and Tobago. Its about time. It's not that Im such a fan of the Cuban regime...... in fact I rather hate regimes that lock up journalists...... its just that the embargo has had the effect through isolation of propping up the Castro regime. I would like the people of Cuba to get to breathe the new air of contact with the outside. It may also help to relieve the poverty on the island. I'll be interested to see what President Obama does and the effect it has in Cuba...... I think he should just drop all restrictions. I do recognize Cuba is very interesting because of its isolation......... I hope some of its uniqueness is maintained if the blockade is lifted......... certainly it's unique taxis like this one I photographed in Havana are big draw for someone with my peculiar interests.
