I am about to head out for NYC........ I had a rapid look at recent images processed and ready to be posted........ but the cupboard was bare.......... except in there I found a set of scans......... not exactly recent........scans of out of control black and white prints that were made from photographs I shot way back in the mists of time....... Matt sent these scans to me the other day, I posted one already....... these images date from the days of 'Thatchers Britain ' . This one is made in the poor East London district on the very edge of the wealthy city financial district....... at bricklane market ........ it was a little grim down there....... some very sad scenes of poverty and always the vague threat of violence at night .... but ...... it was a great place for a curry....... we used to sometimes roll down there after the Insight office would close in the evening sometimes bringing along other photojournalists from photo agencies that existed close-by to us......... like Impact and Reflex and more rarely Katz and Network ........ then we would all argue like mad about the relative merits of the master pieces of photographers not present.............. while consuming Tiger beer and chicken korma in slightly unwise quantities. This like pretty well all my black and white from back in the day....... was shot on 35mm Kodak Tri-X using the mighty Nikon F4.

Cheers Jez XX
