The main thing missing .... in my view... from all my of my taxi pictures collectively is the life inside the cab......... so this morning I was hoping to put that right.......... As I was saying in yesterday's post........ i managed to get a ride today for a couple of hours with taxi driver and photoblogger Lucky327. So this was my first opportunity to look at the back seat with real paying punters on it..... without that punter being me!
These passengers were great......... apparently heading out on an all day Xmas pub crawl..... 'Santa-Con'......... at 9-30AM........ although there was some dissent from her friend..... as to the wiseness of the decision to go for the breakfast bagel....... I cant help feeling it was a good call.......... I say.... go for the mega breakfast and coffee if its gonna be a hard day/night of partying!
Old Lucky327 was cool we had an interesting drive round with one or two dramas........ but it was pretty chilled......... Saturday morning earlyish is not that busy for most drivers but it gradually hots up as the day goes on. So there was time for us to chat early-on as we rolled ......... he gave me a fascinating account of his taxi / photography life....... and just a useful perspective on the whole thing.
Thanks so much Lucky327...... I really enjoyed the trip...... hope you like the above image mate....... cheers bro and thanks again.........
Cheers Jez XX
PS......... Don't forget to take a peek at Lucky327's blog especially check out the image folio from 2006..........its amazing........

PPS.............. It was funny to end up with such different experiences in terms of yellow cabs at either end of the day......... in the morning I hitched a ride with Lucky327 he was trying hard to find punters at 9AM ....... which seemed strange to me...... we were kind of chilled and cruising looking for business....... and then by the end of the day at 6PM..... I was on my own........ and I was having my more usual experience of hanging on that corner at 23rd and 8th....... with a ton of equipment and luggage not being able to get a cab ...... in fact....... I hailed one but a particularly ferocious woman and her four rather gormless full grown sons got in......... I didn't argue or even say a word........... I just held the door that I had clearly opened first ....... 20 feet down the road from where the woman was..... the taxi had clearly stopped for me...... but the woman ran up and screamed at the top her voice right into my face before pushing into the cab....... I felt sorry for the cabbie who was obviously thinking I was a good bet..... tourist looking type maybe a good tipper........ instead his car is suddenly overwhelmed and over regulation loaded with these massive guys and a crazed woman screaming out the front window.......... I decided to walk as I can just about do it with all the cases on wheels....... and I was only going to Penn...... but this meant the woman could continue to scream at me again at the next lights ........er....... not in anyway drawing attention to herself and the overloaded taxi......... i hope the driver didn't get a ticket...... cos it wasn't his fault........ there was no way he could have ejected anyone from that car without her ripping his head off.
