Following yesterdays anniversary of the start of the 6 Day War I thought Id put up a picture of 'The Holy One' herself .......... Jerusalem........... Holy city to Jews, Christians and Muslims alike. This view across the roofs of the old City is dominated by the Golden Dome of Al-Aqsa Mosque... 'The Noble Sanctuary' or 'Dome of the Rock'....... said to be built around the rock that The Prophet rode on his trip to Heaven.......... but contained within the area depicted in this image is both the church of the Holy Sepulcher said to be on the site where Jesus was crucified.......... and the Western Wall holiest site of Judaism said to be the remains of the Second Temple built in 516BCE.......... this picture was made on 35mm 100ASA E6 Fuji RDP tranny film back in 1990 from the roof of a building next to the Jaffa Gate...... I remember a beautiful evening with the light fading........ a gentle hum of activity from the city.......... pierced only occasionally by the crack of live ammunition........
