When people are referring to the DC rat population you kinda assume they mean the dudes working on K street or on the Hill or maybe even the White House.......... but you don't have to get all metaphoric in DC........ here they literally have a ton of actual literal rats........ once I did a story for a UK magazine on the problem of rats in London........ I'd lived in London for more than 10 years at that stage you would think Id have seen the odd one considering the shock horror problem?......... but no!......... not one ever........apparently statistically you are always within 10 feet of a rat in London but you never see any of them....... that story would be a hell of a sight easier to shoot in DC....... they are everywhere....... as you go to get in the car they scamper across your feet......... its pretty vile.......I can only remember one place worse for rats on all my travels........ Surat in India (Diamond cutting City that used to be very grim)......and they ended up getting the plague literally reviving the black death thanks to the horrific number of rats............. DC...... its just weird...... it does not need to be like this......... I guess its just a classically badly run city............ with classically bad garbage collection............. it really just doesn't need to be this bad its much worse than NYC........... Here in DC the rats are just strolling around everywhere even in broad daylight ....... taking it easy........... I saw a big one today walking down P street.......... yeah...... a rat sauntering down the street amongst the shoppers, like he was window shopping and people are so used to it no-one hardly blinked.
