Today I ended up helping a driver rather than shooting ....... I was watching a New York City yellow cab driver changing a wheel because of a flat ...... he was an elderly chap seemed to be struggling a little said he felt weak because he was fasting ....... so I never ended up with a shot of the taxi with the wheel off ...... because by that stage I was doing it for him ..... :-)) ...... Reminded me of this incident above but the other way round ........ I shot this picture above the day before I came back to the US ....... I was just dashing up to visit my folks in the Midlands before leaving the UK ............ As I drove north I saw smoke and flames coming from a car on the hard shoulder of the M1 ....... no emergency people were there ....... no one else was stopped the car seemed be just burning with no one there ...... I assumed the driver was still inside ........ I pulled up jumped out ran over to the car ........ then a man called to me from the top of the bank ........ it was his car he assured me no one else was inside ......... it had just started burning as he drove along ........... so he had pulled up got out ........ and phoned the fire brigade from the safety of the top of the grass bank ....... in that minute of speaking the car started to really burn ....... it would be plain silly to attempt to approach it if it were not critical to save a life ........ so there was nothing to do but take a few pictures so I took the cameras from my car and made a few frames ....... eventually the cops turned up..... and the fire brigade......... so i thought I ought to roll ...... or rather they thought I ought to roll :-))) hehehehe........ In that one I had expected to help and not shoot ........ in this one today I had expected to shoot and not help ........ but things don't always work out as you expect :-)))))))))))
