I have been running about like mad......... flew out of London's Heathrow yesterday and landed late at New York's JFK........ this morning I was up again at 5-00AM and flew out of New York again.... but this time LGA ....... now I am on a flight down to the big ATL........ where I have to hit the ground running....... cos we have a shoot at 10AM......... its gonna be tight........... ( I am blogging in mid air at 30,000 feet using Delta's amazing inflight internet service GoGo I got Matt to email me the picture..... Thanks Matt )
Here is something that almost escaped my attention until I just heard a tiny slither of the BBC World Service yesterday : .... it was 'International Women's Day'....... It really ought to get more fanfare........ The BBC were running a discussion about the need to use positive discrimination to get more women in boardrooms and in executive rolls........
Its true the glass-ceiling still applies ...... I know a lot of very successful leading women in journalism .... so I tend to think women are in those top jobs ....... but when we do a lot of corporate photography we are overwhelmingly photographing men ..... they make up by far the majority of the CEO's and the Chair'men' of big corporations ........ even on this flight..... here in business class there is only one woman amongst 25 men ......... although when I land in Atlanta I will be photographing only women....... two leading executive women with a Capital management firm....... so let me not be too pessimistic ....... :-))
Here above is a photograph I made really a good while back...... of the then CEO of the London Aquarium ......... Lisa Jane Stratton........ she had the top job in an industry full of sharks :-))
Cheers Jez Coulson
