Amazingly today the Russian army says it is halting orders of the famous Kalashnikov assault rifle well at least until a newer model is developed by its manufacturer.

Chief of the General Staff Nikolai Makarov told Russian media that the army already had too many of the old style weapons in its stores.

The AK47 and now the latest AK74 have been the most widely used gun in the world. In some regards it is Russia's most successful export.

Its odd for me to think it could be over for the Kalashnikov rifle........ I have seen it all over the world being used by all sorts of combatants ......... yeah....... on second thoughts......... good riddance to it.............
