Ever heard of the concept of acheiropoeiton ........ ???? Ever even heard the word........????? It refers to an image not made by hand, and therefore a 'true image'....... Really it is a term applied to objects of veneration like the Turin Shroud or the hanky of St Veronica....... Supposedly a direct manifestation of the divinity....... and for believers almost an instance of his presence among us. There are apparently many other examples of these magical icons especially in rural Greece.

I was reading about this today in article by Roger Scruton in Septembers Prospect magazine.......... http://www.prospectmagazine.co.uk/2011/08/from-christ-to-coke/

Completely fascinating........ I especially loved this word for a 'true image'........ 'One not made by hand'.......... That the Ancient Greeks could have a word for this concept ?........ and yet in modern English? ......... Is photograph the closest?
