It's the longest day here in Britain....... The Summer Solstice........... I have not been out with those people that celebrate the Summer Solstice for some long period of time now........ Decades even........

Back in the early nineties there were many serious battles between cops and 'New Age Travelers' who lived on the road and often converged on music festivals like Glastonbury or places like Stonehenge and Solsbury Hill............. places associated with ancient forms of worship.

They would come in large numbers especially at the time of the Summer Solstice.......... I remember shooting this picture on the night of the solstice......... I stayed up all night........ Hung out with the the Travelers and watched them party and then battle the cops.......... Then party some more.......... Then battle some more........... I ended up watching the morning light come up from the top of Solsbury Hill.............
