I made this picture yesterday as the sunset over the Ocean State. I had been busy busy all day shooting since 7-30 AM with lots of things happening in quick succession to a very tight time table....... I enjoyed the shoot but it was great to finally step out into this serene setting and know that the timetable had been completed. Then to make a picture with a feeling of time and space without even needing to do it......... :-) When I made this picture all seemed well with the world...... :-) I had not yet heard about events in Libya at the time.

Harv sent me this link.......... http://www.cnn.com/2011/US/04/21/conflict.journalists.bang.bang.club/ The Bang Bang Club............ I must go and see this movie it's released in America today but nowhere near Atlanta (where I am currently) as far as I can make out........

It seems especially relevant to release it now....... after yesterdays killing of photojournalists Tim Hetherington and Chris Hondros by Gadaffi forces in Libya.......... both these guys were enormously respected.......... I only ever met them both briefly but I feel very sad at their deaths......... Heres to you guys..... I salute all your achievements and bravery in truth telling....... Deeply felt condolences to your families and friends ............

Making matters worse still photographers Michael Christopher Brown and Guy Martin were also badly injured in the same attack. I really hope they are able to make a full recovery.........

A bad day for everyone in journalism and anyone who values honesty and truth in an informed society. But most of all so terrible for all these guys and their families................

Cheers Jez XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

PS.............. I assume this is a coal barge drifting down the estuary towards Newport in Rhode Island.......... I was glad to be working in peaceful New England yesterday not in war torn Libya :-/

PPS............ Interview with Greg Marinvich and Joao Silva by Cherry Groce of NPR's Fresh Air http://www.npr.org/player/v2/mediaPlayer.html?action=1&t=1&islist=false&id=135513724&m=135599392

PPPS.......... Amazing pictures by Chris Hondros http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/gallery/2011/apr/21/war-reporting-libya#/?picture=373862710&index=0
