A bomb exploded in Jerusalem today. I was not close by..... so I was fine.

Sadly an elderly woman was killed and 38 others were wounded some critically.

Depressing to be back here as bombs explode again after a long cease fire by Hamas.

I could not go to the scene of the bombing........... as I was assigned to do something else......... in a way I was glad........ I hate those bombings......... I've see the results of too many bombings..............

I walked in the Old City again this evening .......... life there goes on as it has for scores of years......... it appears not so changed for hundreds of years in fact..............

At one point I talked to an Israeli soldier in the Christian Quarter who warned me about the bombing and other possible risks ........... he was a nice guy........... i then walked round the corner and played football with a group of Palestinian kids......... they were good fun.............

I never need to lie to get on with any of these guys......... I am myself........ a truthfull version of myself......... but a version of myself that best fits the people I am with.

I felt better that I had some connection with people from both sides of the conflict today. Israel's retaliation against Gaza had killed children Hamas retaliation against that killed an elderly woman.

I am modern and secular I would like more people to get into my way of thinking.......... Although I am fascinated by religion and the interplay of religion, politics and history in Jerusalem......... I always come away thinking people should really be more secular..... it would help so much.

The picture shows the markets closing down in the Christian Quarter this evening :-))))
